my hair is naturally light blonde. in november i dyed the underneath DARK brown, almost black. but then prom was in may and i was trying to lighten it before then, so i went and got some of the color taken out [not stripped.. but, idk what they did, but it made it a lighter brown, like a medium shade]. that cost me $130 dollars! AHH! so since then its started fading and has turned a brownish/reddish/auburn ugly color that i hate. so i tried to dye over it at home a 'dark ash blonde'. it lightened it a little but not much. then it started fading into a brownish/reddish/orange color and looks bad. so i went to sallys and told the lady my situation and she said if i use a light blonde dye it would help get it back to a blonder color. i dyed it today. and its barely different. its lighter, but also more orangey. im so SICK of it! i want it fixed and just my natural hair back. [remember this is only the underlayers of my hair]. theres like 4 or 5 inches of the color, and then my roots have grown out since then, but i dont wanna cut it, because im trying to grow my hair out and that would send it up to like my ears! i dont have another $100+ dollars to go get it dyed at a salon because that is insane, and i dont wanna bleach it because thats SO bad for your hair. any suggestions here??
i would say stop coloring it NOW! just let it grow out far enough so that you can trim it when the time comes. you're only wasting more and more money by coloring it, and it's making the color deeper. hair grows faster than you think, so in a couple months just see where you stand and either get a slight trim (which shouldn't cost a lot of money) OR get a full haircut. just leave it alone for a few months -- even if you think it looks horrible. if you keep coloring it, you'll NEVER get your natural hair back and it will only take longer [ heybbylovee's advice column | Ask heybbylovee A Question ]
