2 males, and 1 female okay, so i have 3 cats. one female, two males. well my female i've had for almost 5 years. my two males ive had for like 3. well, once i brought in my two males cats my female cat started using the carpet as the bathroom. now its like a daily thing for her and the males began doing it as well. i know they do it now because the smell is there and everything. well i was wondering how to get them to stop?? like i know cats dont like moth balls. If i were to put moth balls in the area they use as the bathroom, do you think they would quit? Any help would be nice. i need my cats to quit or i have to get rid of them :\

I've had the same problem too I have five cats. I know that's cats really don't like citrus smells but like you said moth balls will work pretty good too. We tried spraying like a citrusy febreze spray (fabric refresher) and the cats haven't touched the carpet. So that might work. Also at the same time your getting a nice smelling rug out of it :)(Pet Deodorizer Carpet cleaner works wonders too).
As for your kitties I think the smell will prevent them from going back. I'm pretty sure it sounds like a territory thing. Look into maybe considering getting them fixed. Cats do tend to go to the bathroom anywhere that smells like a bathroom to them if you try and take the smell completely out of the carpet that might help. I know cats can be picky about there litter boxes too especially if you've changed the litter anytime lately they may decide to use your carpet as a bathroom instead.

Well, males will spray when they're not neutered... so if they're not you should probably get them neutered asap, i hate the smell of cats when they spray. And same thing with the female, if she isn't spayed, get her spayed... it'll also help you not to get kittens. :] ]
There's this stuff that you can buy at the pet store that lifts the smell out of the area. Use that and then throw a litterbox on top of the spot. When they start using that instead then move the litterbox where you want it. It's a process but it works. ]
Hm. I think you should potty train them. You know, litter boxes. If you've already done this then why not take them outside. I know it may be strange but you can buy leashes for cats too. I hope this helsp you a bit. Cat's aren't realyl my specialty haha. =] ]
