coffee and late period

Question Posted Friday October 3 2008, 5:54 pm

I am 24 years old and my period is about 10 days late. It never has been this late before. I am trying to think of any other reason beside pregnancy. One thing I think it could be is it that for the first time in my life I started to drink coffee this month. I have been drinking a few cups a day. Could this be cause????

No, anything you eat and drink won't affect when you're period comes but it can affect how heavy your period is. Such as soda. If you drink a ton of soda you usually have heavier periods. If you stress about being late it will throw your period off. Stress is one of the number one factors for late periods. If you have had sex though you are supposed to take a pregnancy test two weeks after your missed period.

No, what you eat or drink doesn't affect
your periods.

If you have gained or lost a ton of weight,
or started a very demanding exercise program,
that may cause some differences. Stress &
worry can cause it to be late also.

If you have had unprotected sex lately, Get
a home pregnancy test or see your doctor.

i don't think coffee can cause a late period . if you could be pregnant take a test. If not then wait maybe a couple more days and if still nothing go to your doctor because it could be something serious. My friend had no symptoms at all except a late period she went to the doctor and found out that she had mono and her spleen was enlarged and thats why she missed her period. soo go to the doctors it could be nothing, but it sounds like it could be something
