If you're really serious about photography, take a class, join class, first practice with a digital camera in black and white, and read tons of books on the subject for starters.

That's a rather vague question. First of all, you have to have a rather good camera. A good camera can mean the difference between high quality and crappy pictures. Second, you want to take tons of photos on one thing. That way to can change up on angles and catch the difference in lighting. Thirdly, you want a photo editing program on a computer. Some people may have a knack for taking great photos but its hard to get the right colors and lighting in them, so a photo editing program will take it further.

Professionals don't use editing software, but for a beginner, you should try to use it very little, but enough to enhance the quality of a picture without changing it too much. Photoshop is bot what I recommend, there are probably already photo editing programs on your computer if you have up to date software.

When you take pictures, take it of things you like. Don't worry what others think. If you see something that's worth taking a photo of, take it quickly because nothing lasts forever, and you may only get one chance to get the best shot.
