Los Angeles

Question Posted Thursday September 25 2008, 9:28 am

Anyone live out there?

My boyfriend and I plan on moving out there right after we graduate high school but there's a lot of things i'd like to know about it!

First he knows about some program where if you've lived out there for 6 months commuity college is paid for by the government. Tell me more?

Will it be hard for me to find an office job out there?

What's the driving like? Traffic?

Will I be able to find affordable clothes and stuff?

We're probably moving to the Met Lofts. Know anything about them or that area?

Are there things like food stamps and wellfare checks?

ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN TELL ME! I'D LIKE TO HEAR EVERYTHING.

Lucky for you, my boyfriend's from LA and he's sitting right next to me.

He said that is true, and that the fee will wave your tuition for classes, but that doesn't include books, room&board or meal plans. You have a good chance of learning more if you talk to someone in the Financial Aid Office at the college.

There's lots of office jobs, but while that may be, there's also a lot of people looking too. You have a good chance, but remember, you're competing with millions of other people so you have to look hard. You can always find jobs on www.craigslist.com as well, so keep that option open.

Traffic is usually pretty crazy at times, but like any other city, it'll have it's days with traffic at a minimum. You're pretty well off planning ahead before you go for a drive, and knowing what places to avoid at what times.

Of course. LA has discount stores too. Aside from department stores & mall stores, there are the good ones (thrift stores) that you can hit up & find really good clothes at good deals.

My boyfriend sadly doesn't know anything about that area, but he said it sounds like it may be downtown. You might wanna google it and see what that tells you. Google is always your friend. Here, I'll help!

Yeah. Just because Los Angeles is home to Hollywood & the Dodgers doesn't mean they're any different from other places. It's a city, you know. There's lots of those scattered throughout the US.

Besides that, take an adventure around LA. There's a lot of great little cities that inhabit it, and almost everything is about half an hour (or less) away. I guess that's pretty much it. If you have any more questions, inbox me and I'll ask my boyfriend & get back to you. If I don't respond immeadiately, it's because I lack internet, but I will get back. :]
