Winter Formal Date

my Winter Formal is coming up and my brother is going with this girl and i dont have a date. my brothers friend isnt going with anyone and i just met her last week and i like her, like she's awsome, but i dont think i can ask her coz it would be kinda akward. i was talking to her about it and she thought i was hinting at her but i wasnt so im asking if i really wanna go with her how do you think i should confront her?
