if you have unlimited text messaging, but you live in FL but you text someone from MA. does that cost extra?

Most generally, it doesn't cost you. If it does happen to cost you, it should be in your plan. You may want to check, just to be safe.

Not usually. I have a friend I text in Illinois and I'm from Michigan. And even though that's not the same distance, I'd assume the same principle applies.
