infected computer

Question Posted Saturday September 6 2008, 11:14 pm

I need help! Okay, everytime I turn on my computer it tells me that it has been infected. And it tells me use special antispyware tools to prevent data laws. And it gives me a website where I can get it. But it's 80 dls! What can I do other than download what they're asking me to download? How can I fix this? I am really broke right now..so can I do it for free?

thanks in advance!

sounds to me like you got the antivirus 2009 virus. DON'T buy the one they show you. It's a scam the whole thing was . It was originally apop up that looked like a windows system notification right?
I know for sure Kapersky anti virus will remove it.

If you do have antivirus 2009 (which goes by other names) use [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) for removal instructions. Good Luck.

I had pretty much the same problem...depending on how serious the problem is, you may be able to use Spybot to fix it. It's free and you download it on line.

If that fails, you may have to just restore your entire computer. If you still have the restore disk from when you first got your computer you can use that. If not, you'll have to do it manually from your computer now. I saw that someone told you the directions on how to do it already, so follow those and you should be okay.

If that does not work either, you may have to bring your computer somewhere to have it looked at. Best Buy has great technicians if you can go there.

Good luck.

***********I AM NOT SURE HOW MUCH IT WILL COST TO GET IT FIXED AT BEST BUY, BUT WHEN I CALLED, THEY SAID IT WAS FREE TO HAVE SOMEONE LOOK AT IT BUT THEY WILL CHARGE ONLY WHEN THEY START DOING WORK ON IT TO FIX IT***************

Okay,

I had a worm awhile back, And I did not have the money to spend on a bunch of anti-spyware either. So this is what I did and it worked out perfect for me. Try using adaware free scanning program. However before you scan your computer with Adaware trying restoring it back to the earliest you can get it till. (Start-Programs-System tools-System Restore) However, Keep in mind that if you restore the computer you may loose some data. Once you've restored the PC try scanning it with Adaware. Restoring sometimes helps clean out any viruses or worm holes that may be in your computer.

Hope I helped a little bit.

Why do people trust everything their computer tells them?

That warning is itself caused by a virus. Paying them won't do anything. Follow my guide to remove it:

All of the software in my guide is completely free.
