just practicing writing won't help you. i took ap world history last year as a sophomore and what really helped was reading classic books. it improves vocabulary and your comprehension. also, i've listed 2 books below that have examples of good writing for that subject :
1. REA AP WORLD HISTORY
2. PRINCETON REVIEW AP WORLD HISTORY
and they sell other ones by the same company that are for different histories.
hope this will help. ]
You should purchase Lucille Vaughan Payne's The Lively Art of Writing. It's one of the best books out there for learning grammar, structure and style. I've been using it for over 16 years. See link [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
It may be difficult to find in bookstores but be persistent as it presents all of this to you in common language. Also of value is On Writing Well and Strunk and White's book on style. Don't pass up the idiots and dummies series on creative writing, writing in general, poetry etc. They're all helpful.
Go to a bookstore and ask the clerks for their section on writing and you'll find tons of options. If you want to write like a pro and learn the same skills reporters have the Chicago Manual of Style is the bible in America as is the CP Style Book in Canada. ]
