Proofreading. I just started college last week, and I already have written one short paper. I am a fairly good writer when it comes to expressing my thoughts and ideas, but I would like to have someone proofread my paper(s) occasionally, such as when I have a large one with a big chunk of my grade in jeopardy. Does anyone know a site that can connect me to people who will do this for free (I tried to google this matter, but I didn't exactly find anything). Or would anyone on this site be willing to help? Haha. It might seem far fetched, but I figured it was worth a shot.

Writing is deeply personal. As a result, any proofreading beyond simple spelling/grammar checking (Which MicroSoft Word can do for you) should be done by someone you know and trust who is familiar with your writing.
When I'm in need of proofreading, I ask a few of my close friends or my girlfriend. If that fails or they aren't availible, I turn to one of my parents or a teacher (Assuming it's not due the next day). ]
I've never heard of a free proofreading site, and frankly, I wouldn't trust them either. Someone could upload your essay onto those "Free Essays" sites, and even though it was originally YOUR essay, the college search engines will find it and fail you for plagiarism. I've never heard of this actually happening, but it's highly possible.
Anyways, I'm almost sure that there are writing help centers on your campus, or at least tutoring offices. My school has like five writing help centers. Even thought it's not like you need help, they'll read it.
Also, don't be afraid to ask your teacher or TA. Most of the time, if you give your teacher a draft (leaving a lot of time before it's due, obviously), he/she will read it for you. Now, your teacher won't go through with a red marker and correct your mechanical errors, but will give you insight to whether or not you are on topic, if your paper lacks in content, etc.
You should also try to make friends in your class and set up a study group. Even if it's just one friend, just find someone you can trade papers with peer-edit. Even ask your roommate!
I wish I could help you personally, but I'm a college student too lol.
Good luck! ]
I'm only a senior in high school, and I'm only 15, but I do get straight A's. That being said, I would LOVE to help you. I also found this site, among others, when I googled "free proofreading", which you might wanna do.

There are several things that you can do for free.
The first thing that you can try is finding your teacher during his/her office hours and ask him/her to proofread it for you.
If that doesn't work, you can just go to your library and look for a writing workshop type of place that most have.
If that doesn't work, check if they have one in the English Building that is on Campus.
If that doesn't work, than you can ask other students to peer edit it,
Only after all of those should you solicit for help online. ]
