I am not entirely sure I understand the question.

From a point of view of evolution and biology, both have their place. Lust is the mechanism by which humanity reproduces. It is what keeps our species existing. Love on the other hand plays a social role and influences our interactions (such as caring for the family, etc).

So basically, lust is a more impulsive and basic urge (you figure out if thats an advantage or not lol), it plays a vital part in reproduction, and it is easier to deal with (i.e. it is not as complex as love, and you can "make it go away" easily).

Well thats all I can think of, but again, not sure I quite understood what it was you were after exactly.
