I live in a small town & go to a small school, so highschool wasn't all that different from middle school to me. But i'm sure it's all basically the same.

You shouldn't be nervous. It's always scary and nerve wrecking for every freshman, but it's never that bad.

Highschool is different from middle school in a few ways though. First of all, you have a lot more freedom, but along with that, you have a lot more responsibility too. Teachers don't stay on your back as much about turning in work, which can be nice. But at the same time, if you don't turn in your work on your own, you get a 0.

You have a lot more options in which classes you take too. You have so many choices to make, and you need to be wise in those decisions. In highschool, getting good grades isn't so much about impressing your parents, but about doing well for yourself and your future. So highchool is definitely the time to buckle down on getting good grades. Be wise in the classes you choose to take, because it will effect you getting into a good college.

As for friends, just be friendly. Smile at people and talk to people. Don't be a snob, and don't be shy. Just get out there and talk to people. That's really all you can do.
