reasons why unheathy-
-The main reason it is unheathy to keep a tampon in too long is becuse tampons pull out the natural bacteria that is inside your vaginal tract , those bacteria are supposed to be there .
some things that might help-
i asked my docotor about this and he said if you dont want to wear a heavy pad to bed wear a light/medium tampon , and a small pad that wont feel like anything on. that way the tampon is small enough it wont take too much bateria ( still is unsafe, my doctor said it dosnt always happen this way ) and that small pad is just there incase of an emergancy.
THE BEST BET-
the best bet is to just sleep without a tampon in , its not that much of a hassel to wear a pad. Id rather waste the time to put a pad on , then wake up with TSS ( toxic shock-syndrom ( for incase you didnt know the acro))

Try going to the store and buying a heavier pad. I think they even make special nighttime ones, too.
uisforukelele answered Wednesday August 13 2008, 11:13 pm: It's only unhealthy if you leave it in for too long (over eight hours).
I sleep in them when I can because I always have to get up early for school or work. That way, I never leave them in too long because I only sleep for like 6 hours anyway.
However, if you think you might sleep for longer than eight hours, here's a tip. Drink a lot of water before you go to bed, so you'll have to get up in the middle of the night to pee. Then, you can change your tampon and sleep some more. It sounds dumb, but it's better than accidentally leaving it in too long.
