Denim Jacket

Question Posted Monday August 11 2008, 1:30 pm

17/f. I've always thought denim jackets were really cute, but I've never bought one because I'm not sure what pants to wear with it. I wear jeans all the time... but if I wear jeans AND a denim jacket, will I look like I have a denim fetish? If anyone else has a denim jacket, what pants do you wear with it? I'm pretty normal sized, so any suggestions are appreciated!

You can ALWAYS get them at denim jean stores, like Lucky Brand, True Religion, Diesel, DKNY jeans, Guess. I understand those are expensive stores, but to get them at other stores depends on the season I guess. The Gap should probably have them, especially now because it's almost fall. There's also L.E.I. and Levi's which are in the department stores.

It's kind of difficult to pair denim with denim. It's tacky and out of style to pair matching denim pants and a jacket. You can mix a jacket and jeans of different washes, but it's pretty hard to get it right. Here's a pic of a good match (it's a guy but whatever we're just looking at the colors here lol).

Anyways, I wear mine with yoga pants (black, pink, or grey), VS Pink sweatpants (so cute!), a mini dress (where it's tight around the legs), or over a long fitted tunic with tight leggings. And this is all with the same jacket!!! So you see, denim jackets are so versatile and can really go with anything.

I think it looks tacky when people wear denim and denim. Try it with khaki pants or shorts, or colored bottoms- like a red or white skirt.

heyy you can totally wear tight yoga pants, or cords / khaki (either skirt or pants). yeahh you're right, you can't wear a jean jacket and jeans, but if you wear any other material, it'll be fine. cotton skirt / shorts will even do.

usually, i go with..

dark denim jacket = light bottoms (light khaki, light cotton)
light denim jacket = darker khakis and shorts / skirts

like the opposite so it doesn't look weird with DARK denim + DARK shorts. get my drift?
