The two main problems with the Zune are that the battery dies out farely quickly, so it has to be recharged often (not super quickly, but faster than the ipod's) and the search is a little more difficult, since you can't just manually enter in the name of the songs. However, it holds so much more, has great picture and video quality, and has many more awesome functions, such as networking with other Zune members and choosing different backgrounds and even a radio.
The problems with the ipod for me was that (well, aside from mine being only a 2gb so it didnt hold enough of my music) it froze up very often, and many times I had to restart it. If I looked through songs too quickly it would turn off, or sometimes it would just keep skipping songs on shuffle until it went through every song on the ipod. Ipods definitely have way too many glitches, the Zune barely has any and the price is more reasonable.

You can send songs to friends. The only bad thing is if you have a Mac. You can't use the Zune software from what I hear. iPods are so annoying and overrated cause they have an Apple on it.
