Moving out

Question Posted Sunday August 3 2008, 7:21 pm

I'm a junior in high school, at the end of this school year I plan on moving out of my parents house and moving to another city. The city I plan on moving to is only 2 hours away. I would like to know if there is anything that I should consider about finances, I have money, a job and its not a mcdonalds job, its a well-payed job. Please dont tell me "its not right to move out" I have already decided that I am.
Thanks.

You ask about any thing to consider abut finances, and you mention you have aperantly a very well paying job, you are a junior in high scool and you have made up you're mind to out from you're parent's house, the thing is are you ready to face the crul world, maybe you think that you will be safe after you move out, but the fact of the thing is this preditors that go after single girls and rape them slaughter them torture them and desmember there bodie's is excatly what you will become a clear target for there diabolic sedistec killings pleasures, there are several that after they do what ever they want with there pray they cook and eat tere human flesh, You think im kidding, things are getting to a point to where we will need armor protection in our own homes,Don't you see the News. Definately you need to look at EVERY possible expense that you have and plan it out really good for a budget. There's probably gonna be a lot of first time expenses like furniture and cooking utensils that you have to factor in. So I suggest saving up in the last year that you live there. Make sure you think of major things like rent, groceries, car, utilities as well as less obvious things like toothpaste. When you're on your own and you don't have the cushion of your parents helping you even little things like toothpaste suddenly become a major expense, haha.

Also, and I'm assuming you're getting an apartment here, make sure you look at the terms of your lease. Is it monthly? 1 year? 2 years? That kind of stuff is important too. And shop around for apartments too.

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location) is a pretty good site. And don't choose solely on price. Just because it's the cheapest rent doesn't necessarily mean its the best deal.

I don't know how your parents feel about you moving out but if they're supportive of it then I definately suggest asking for their opinion of what you should look for as well. I'm sure they have a lot more advice to give than anyone here could come up with. And even if they're not supportive right now talking to them about it and them knowing that you value their opinion may help them to become supportive.

One last thing, don't live beyond your means. Don't use credit cards to cover your expenses. My parents had me when they were really young, they were just starting college they had pretty much no money, and they tried to make ends meet with credit cards. Then they got divorced like 7 years ago and my dad got stuck with the horrible credit rating that comes with credit card debt. He's JUST NOW starting to bring up his credit rating into the good range after mistakes he made when he was 19. That stuff is REALLY hard to recover from so don't put yourself in that situation or else it could haunt you for a long time.

Well, that's pretty much all the advice I can think about right now and sorry if it didn't really answer your question. Good luck with everything. :)
