birds wings bleeding

Question Posted Friday August 1 2008, 11:30 pm

i have two parakeets and i just got a kitten, and he always sneeks into the room with the parakeets and jumps up on the cage and scares them, so they flap all around the cage. one of them keeps hitting the sides of the cage, and both his wings keep bleeding. is there anything i can out on his wings to make them stop bleeding when he flaps around the cage or the help them heal?
and i know, obviously try to keep the cat out.. im doing my best.
thanks!

first of all, you need to take them to the vet as soon as possible. it's vital.

second, definitely keep the cat out, as you said. the whole reason why they're flapping is cause they're scared. just keep the birds in one room and don't allow the cat in that room.. simple.

third, and in addition to what the other person was saying, either buy a nice large cage OR just keep two small ones next to each other so that they can still communicate without having to share a cage.

i hope i helped, and hope your birdies feel better!

well first..you need tog et to a vet...bleeding isnt something you can sort out. Thier wings might even be broken.
Second, if the wings continue to bleed, maybe a septic pencil and bandages will help it, while you get to the vet.

Also, if you have two birds, and when they fly they hit the cage bleeding, the cage is probaably too small. You should buy the biggest cage you can afford. If you cannot buy a large cage, either get rid of one, or both birds.
