i am about to rip my hair out!!!!!!!!!
ok so instead of having a SMART computer that warns you AS SOON AS IT SPOTS THE TINIEST VIRUS, my computer just decided to tell me the other day that i have 2,989 VIRUS'S ON IT.
its making it really difficult to type, do anything online, or just anything general. this laptop is now basically useless unless i find a way to get these damn virus's off of it. problem is, my family is kind of tight on money right now? and so i dont want to wait 5 days for some cheap software to come in the mail. i tried restoring it, putting up a firewall, and installing this antivirus thing, but nothing works.
so my question is this: does anyone know of any good antivirus program that i can download for free online? much appreciated.

Whatever told you that you have 2989 viruses is actually a virus itself. They want you to buy their useless "antivirus" product.

I use AVG Anti-Virus Free and I have NEVER had a virus since I installed that. It works wonder and best of all, Its FREE!. Good Luck:)

i am warning you... any and i mean ANY free antivirus software is very dangerous to download because most of those are scams and cover ups to put MORE viruses onto your computer... no body makes a good antivirus software and just gives it away for free thats just our capitalist nation.
but you seem to be having a large problem i suggest you download mcafee's 30 day free trial because its the best/cheapest antivirus software i have found so far

If you reinstall everything on your computer that usually helps. It should have came with a cd that allows you to do that. good luck
