Too Friendly?

Question Posted Friday July 25 2008, 5:24 am

So I have this friend...
I mean yeah I love him in a friendly way.
But he says "I love you" way too much.
And every time he does, I either
-Say it back
-Smile
-Or say "Mkay."
And I'm a cery sarcastic person & he takes my sarcasism as rudeness.
I don't wanna hurt his feelings...
But I dont want people to think we're more than friends. You know?

Well any answers will help.

love, Rachel

You have 2 options:

1. Talk to him about it.
2. Stop caring what others think.

With the first, you can just sit down with him and tell him that people are beginning to get the impression that the two of you are more than friends. Explain to him you'd like him to cut back a bit with saying "I love you".

With the second, you simply ignore people and tell them he's your friend and you only love him in a friendly way, and that's it.

Just tell him you dont feel comfortable with him saying it that much. Its okay if he does, but its making you uncomfortable.
