hair smoothing

Question Posted Wednesday July 23 2008, 11:51 pm

I have naturally curly frizzy out of control hair. I have become pretty good at styling hair for the simple fact that if I wasn't my hair would be nuts. My problem is that it takes a lot of time to do anything with my hair because to flat iron or curl it with a curling iron or hot curlers or anything i have to blow dry it relatively straight first or it won't work out. Does anyone know anyways to smooth out my hair permanently or in a more timely way so that it is ready to be styled?

I have the same type hair and I also recommend the John Frieda collection. You have to use the whole line though not just one product.

And also, I don't know what kind of flat iron you're using, but I flat iron my hair almost every day. I've tried like type of flat iron and I've found that it's a necessity to have a thin one. 1 inch thick or less. I'm using a 3/4 inch flat iron right now and it's the best one I've ever had. If your hair is like mine, it's frizzy all the way to the root, and with thicker flat irons you cant get to it. The thin ones just do a more even job cuz you can get closer to the root.

The last thing I have to say is: DON'T TRY TO GET IT RELAXED. It damages your hair SOOO much. I tried it like 6 years ago and all along where I part my hair, the hairs broke off and I had to part my hair all the way on the side for a whole year to cover it up while they were growing out. And it wasn't just like one or two strands it was like SECTIONS of hair. DON'T DO IT!!!!

Good luck and I hope this helps.

You could always get it chemically relaxed.
It won't make your hair straight, but it will relax it.
It can be quite damaging though.

Otherwise I recommend John Frieda's Frizz Ease products.
Here are some examples:

Sorry it's an English site, but they should be at most drug stores, walmart etc.

You don't have to use all of them, just the shampoo and conditioner would help.
They work well.
I personally love the Hair Serum, since my hair is a bitch too :)

Oh, I also suggest that if you're planning to stay in the house for a day or whatever, just leave your hair, wash it, and leave it to dry naturally. It helps if you do it every now and then.

I hope this helped you :)
