saving up

Question Posted Sunday July 20 2008, 11:04 pm

15/f

When it comes to saving up I don't know how to save my money better yet my check without spending it on stupid stuff...I get my check every friday and sadly it doesn't even last to see sunday meaning its gone by sunday . This has become an issue with my parents because they no longer want to provide me with any transportation to work or anywhere since they say its pointless to work if I don't save my checks. I thought getting a bank account would help but its worse it seems I go there and withdrawl money everytime I'm in need to spend...idd really like to start saving my money to buy a new phone or an ipod touch but idk how that's going to happen =/ does anyone here have any suggestions? Tips on how to not spend and save up? Anything would help please

Start splitting your paycheck in half, and stand by it! When you go to the bank, put half of your paycheck in a savings account, and cash the other account. Also, don't use a debit card. If your bank gives you one, throw it away! Sometimes with a card you spend more than you think because you don't visually see your money being spent until your wallet is empty. If you do get a card, write everything down! I hope this helps

There are some saving accounts where you can deposit a certain amount of money and if you don't take money out you are given a certain amount every certain days months or years. I'm not sure about all the details. I'm sure you could find more information on this.

When I get paid i usually take half of my money and put it in a box and spend only the money i left out. This works for me because i can keep myself from using it. If you won't be able to keep yourself from spending it it might not work for you.

You could also give some to your parents to hold onto for you. Each time you get paid write down how much you give your parents and keep track of it till you save up for what you want. Tell your parents not to give you the money till you have saved up.

-*- Hope I Helped -*-

just remember that you have everything you need, and everything else are just 'wants'. 'wants' get alot of people in trouble sometimes cuhz once they have everthing thing they need. therell always be something else you dont have. so keep that in mind. this time, put half of your money in the bank and use half of it. make a list of things you need and a list of things you 'want'. strike out cute clothes you 'have' to have. think, you already have clothes, so you dont need clothes. also get all your change out of your piggy banks and roll your coins.. then go to a grocery store and get cash return.
oh and for example, instead of spending 40 dollars or more on jeans, put a limit of 20 dollars on jeans, and dont buy jean unless they are within your limit.
also if you get extra money for things such as for fast food, instead save that little money and eat when you get home.
also once you start saving, itll get a little easier to do, the more you do it.
hope this helps any.
