Question Posted Saturday July 19 2008, 12:08 pm

ok. i HATE IT. when other people fart. i think it's the most disgusting thing ever. well. my mom thinks it's fcking HILARIOUS when she farts and watches me freak out. well today, she farted. right in the middle of the kitchen where we were making breakfast and i calmly told her that it's not funny & that it's RUDE as well as disrespectful. at first she was laughing, and then she started crying. see, she has a disease and the medication makes her really emotional. she thinks she she can just start crying whenever she wants & she'll always get her way. and i hate it. i know it's horrible of me to say that. i love her and all but she takes advantage of the situation. so she starts crying to my poor, poor dad that everyone always "gangs up" on her when i CALMLY told her that it's rude. nothing i do can ever make her stop. she always does it, and starts laughing hysterically, and if i start freaking out, she starts crying. except i didn't even freak out today! i stood up and i told her that it's disrespectful for everyone around her. can someone PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE? I'VE TOLD HER countless times that i don't like it when she does that and she's always like yeahhh okay whatever -- SORRRYYY in a sarcastic way. ugh! it pisses me off! she never taught me any manners. she farts and burps and she's NOT a lady at all. even at restaurants she'll burp - out loud, but quietly - and people will glance at her and she says NOTHING. it's SO rude. can someone give me some advice regarding her farting? it's just plain GROSS!!!!

Sometimes due to internal problems and/or medications people can't help burping or passing gas. But she should obviously say excuse me or leave the room, and I agree, I fail to find it funny. But I have been around many people that do it on purpose and laugh.

Obviously saying something to her doesn't work. So what I would suggest is just getting up and walking away. Or politey look at her and say "Excuse You" and then drop it. She expects some kind of severe reaction out of you and probably keeps egging you on for the heck of it...
not nice.

Sorry! Some people are like that. The only real way you can do something is to refuse to go out in public with her if she won't quit. Don't eat when she eats and slip her some beano. Forget that last suggestion. I am not licensed to give medical advice to help someone stop someone else from farting.
