Controlling "Outbursts"

Question Posted Tuesday July 15 2008, 12:00 am

15/f
Alright so my friends and I got into this huge fight way back in February. It was pretty much an explosion you could say. Well now I'm finally getting over it and getting back on my feet because things are finally settling (I had a lot of psychological issues because of this huge explosion). But still, whenever I'm around these people once again at a party or something (where its just me and them...no one else), it's like I can't control my emotions. For instance, I'll start crying just out of the blue because I can't handle being around them because it brings back so many painful memories (and good ones too that just make me miss even more how things were). Or I'll just start laughing at something funny that one of them say, but then I can't stop laughing. And not at all in a good way. Either way, I'm hysterical and can't stop. I just miss how things were and I miss feeling secure around them. I feel so scared that if I don't find a way to control these emotions, that I'll never get invited anywhere again with them...just when I thought everything was going to be okay. Because basically, though it's settling somewhat, it's still not back to the way things were. And I don't think it ever will be.
I just wish there was a way that I could keep a handle on my emotions around them. Any advice?

Wow, that's pretty intense.
I have had the same problem but I got anxiety medicine for it, maybe you should talk to your doctor about that.
No, it doesn't mean you're crazy or anything, it just means you're a little more nervous than some people, and etc.
That's my main advice is to talk to your doctor.
Otherwise, just try and keep your mind off of it, no matter how hard it is. Keep a journal of your thoughts, read a book, keep busy, organize things, hang out with different people.
Or you could just e-mail me, I love talking to people & I have a way with calming people down.
