im 14, 5'7" weigh 165, athletic, mature for my age. Im going into high school and so far my summer has been okay. i think that being able to wear a bikini to pool parties or on vacation would make my summer great. so i need to loose 15 to 20 pounds. i am very strong and willing so im up for any suggestions BUT it is very hard for me to diet trust me im always sneaking something and i never stick to plans. And when i try it doesnt last long at all. So please help me with an exercise plan that doesnt require a change of diet AND WORKS. Thank you!
Running is good. And if you have a pool available, long slow swims are great for burning calories. High rep exercises done with low weights to failure are good. Don't be afraid to build muscle becuase it adds shape to you and burns fat. Forget the scale. Use the mirror and tape measure to chart progress. [ zstarch's advice column | Ask zstarch A Question ]

Though you can probably shape up whatever part you think needs to, like your abdominals if you must. Its about diet too. I personally cannot tell you what to eat and when to. And I definitely don't want anyone to start eating disorders. But you should avoid eating lots of carbs, like noodles or any grain product. And eat until your full, but not bloated.
That, and never set your goals too high. 15-20 pounds is pretty devistating, especially at your age. Besides, losing weight won't give a better body. Your athletic right? Than you should just keep your body at least toned(enough so its not bulging muscle but looks nice), and you'll be fine. Low self esteem kicks in around your age, so learn to be comfortable with what you have and what you can do. [ Psycotheis's advice column | Ask Psycotheis A Question ]

FLECTCHERISM
For those people who are genuinely interested in reducing weight, must understand what Fletcherism means. Horace Fletcher of the U.S.A. lived in the 19 th century. He was miserable because he was abnormally overweight and was often down with some illness or the other. He suffered from chronic indigestion. He tried for all sorts of treatment to reduce weight, but did not succeed. After several days of deep study, he came to the conclusion that retaining the food in the mouth and chewing the food at least 30 minutes had a positive effect in reducing weight. He method of reducing weight was named Fletcherism.
Horace Fletcher gave out some rules for reducing weight.
1)The first and foremost rule is mastication. Every bite should be chewed thirty times right and partly on the left side of the mouth(15 times on each side of the mouth). The food should not be swallowed until chewed to a pulp.
2)The second rule is not to eat when upset, angry or worried or with mind full of tension and unpleasant thoughts. Because the digestive enzymes and juices are not released while disturbed. A pleasant and cheerful attitude while eating enables better digestion.
3)The last and very important rule is not to eat when not hungry. We must wait until we feel hunger ness.
Horace Fletcher followed these rules for five months. As a result he lost more than 60 pounds and felt
better than he had for 20 years. A weight-reducing programme built on Fletcherism works wonders
and is worth a trial. [ prettylol's advice column | Ask prettylol A Question ]
