I think I avoid getting close to people. I know everyone for the most part would like my personality, but sometimes I'm just so low on energy that I don't care about enjoying the moment...I always wait around for "next" time. Which never comes. How can I use my energy more effectively?

If you have problems with that, you just need to understand that sometimes the moment isnt interresting to YOU and that sometimes you cant force yourself! Make the moments exciting by picking up on little things that you enjoy, like you can say, if i get through this smileing ill have icecream later. give yourself somoething to look forward to and youll be excited for that. you can even use a boy/girl that you have a crush on to work through the problem like have a friend invite then along or promise yourself that you will talk to them at your locker later, that will give you enough butterflies in your stomich for a heck of a good day. But if you try the crush idea make sure you still talk and pay attention to who your with at the time.
