cheerleading/short term memory loss??

Question Posted Wednesday July 9 2008, 3:15 pm

So, I am in cheerleading, and well, of course we have to do cheers, and I really do try to practice them at home, and we do the cheers like right before we go home to, but right when i get in the car and i go home i completely forget the cheer and the moves. Is this Short Term Memory Loss?? How can I fix this? because I am the only one on the team that keeps messing up the cheers, and I feel really stupid and the coaches seem kind of annoyed about it..
Thanks

This is my 6th year cheering and even i forget cheers sometimes.

If you want to remember them easyer ask the coach for a copy of the words. If you are to shy or scared to do this bring a pen and paper to practice, have somebody else write the words down for you, or take a minute to do it yourself. With the moves, there is not much you can do other than to keep practicing. Remember what moves you do with 8 counts.

hope i helped!!

I've been cheering for 5 years, and this still sometimes happens to me. If i'm tired after a long day of practice, and i'm ready to go home, I don't pay attention and absorb as much information as I would normally if I were less tired and more in to it. So try paying close attention.

Keep your mind on what you are doing, and don't let it wonder. I catch myself thinking about what i'm going to have for dinner, or when I'll see my boyfriend, or random things like that. Focus on what you are doing.

And if you honestly can't remember, have your coach or captain write down the words to take home with you. This may trigger the motions once you get home =]

So basically:
1. Be Dedicated To What You Are Doing.
2. Focus & Pay Attention.
3. Write Down Information.

Good Luck <3

Do you forget other things really easily too? If you do, then you could have short term memory loss.

You can possibly not be into the sport, so you just lag your way through it. Is there other things going in in your life, thats over cheerleadings priority? Also, whats going through your mind when you're going the cheers? Anything about boys, your parents, friends, hardships your going through? That can be taking over your memory of cheerleading. Try to explain to your coaches what is going on. It's okay to forget some stuff, even though people will get annoyed.
