its my first time at a public school in a long time!
okay! I've been going to a somewhat private school for most of my life. I haven't been to a public school since first grade. And now going into eighth grade I'm starting at a public school. I am very very nervous and have no idea what it's going to be like. Can anyone help me with anything? Like on the social groups and things like that.

the first thing you need to do, is find some off your privite school friends there if you have any at that school. what you need to know is that everyone there is as nevous as you are. plus you really dont have to worry about finding friends that much (some but not alot). These kids have seen the same people since preschool, when you walk in there they will adimatically want to talk to you, but you have to make the first move like find a nice person to sit next to (possibly the same gender) and say "hi, im new here just came from this really boring bording school, and i need to know were the cafeteria is, please will you help me?", the you can ask were the bathrooms are or if they play any sports. soon theyll ask you to sit with them and you can introduce yourself to the table and find a whole bunch of people to talk to, just try to take it easy and let yours and there questions flow. make sure to have fun and be yourself, and just think if they dont like you someone else will.

well since your user name is very out going i bet you wont have any issues socialisng ! but number on rule is always be your self ! a new school calls for a new look(but not to the point your a clone) no one can tell you what scocial group to be apart of , just remember kids your age can be critical .... so just at first be very honest and firendlyto whom ever aproches you ! i would have to tell you to get involved in school activitys once it starts that will ensure you a group to hang out with pluss there are tuns of things to choose from .... your best bet is to pick a realy amaing outfit and an awesome backpack for your first day .... if you feel and look confident others will love you!!!!
now public school are tricky ! they lack disaplin and have a larger population so watch out !!!!! dont give in to gosip ar mean girls!!!! have fun and relax !!!! becouse you came from a private school some of the kids might think your better them you will have to prove that you might be smarter but your still a teen!!!!
so you can always reserch what the kids wear and shop around at mervins and jcpennys or if your like me hit goodwill for a funy top and belts !!! skinny jeans are a big hit you can wear them with any type of top and with wedges and filpflops and flats good luck !!!!

When I was in 8th grade, there really weren't social groups. but I went to a small middle school where we all knew each other.
It would help if you let us know if it was a big class, or a small class. So, if you add additional information, we may be able to help you better.
