It is normal for a period to stop or become irregular.
Mine has stopped once for 3 months and again for 6 months.
It is normal - it can take up to 10 years for your period to 'decide' on a pattern.
This usually happens in the early stages of getting your period but it is not uncommon - I've heard of it happening to 40 year old women.
Don't stress, I'm sure nothing it wrong. [ wishes's advice column | Ask wishes A Question ]

This is going to sound really bizarre, (I'm not a crazy person, I promise, I know this works for me...) but maybe if you try sexually arousing yourself by masturbating it will cause your period to come more often. I had my period come a week early once because of being around a guy I was attracted to.
Also, since you are 18 that means you are either going to graduate high school, or have already done so. This is a large life transition, and life transitions also cause period changes. Stress can do it too. It could also be a hormone or thyroid problem, or a psychological problem. In other words, there could be many reasons. My cousin had a similar situation, and it was due to her thyroid. [ TheFool's advice column | Ask TheFool A Question ]

Also, do you exercise a lot? Sometimes your period will stop because of excessive exercising.
I am sure that everything is fine. Try not to worry :)
