Gaining Weight

Question Posted Sunday July 6 2008, 9:33 am

Hey guys :]

So Im 17/F im 5'5 and I weigh about 100 lbs. im totally healthy, and not like sickly underweight or anything. But I would love to gain weight. I eat a ton but it doesnt really do anything. Is there any supplements or even medicine you recomend. (im looking for something like that bar that Regina eats in Mean Girls) lol. Something that would make me gain alot of weight im thinking at least 4-5 pounds in time for school. THANKSSSSSSS

I'm not sure about supplements, buti had an eating disorder that made me really thin, although since eating alot of bread i've soon put weight on (plus its made my boobs bigger - hehe ;-)so you could try that x

Eat protein bars, nuts, granola, or any foods that are high in calories more often. But don't go overboard, continue to eat a balanced, healthy diet, including fruits and vegetables. I would recommend eating snacks throughout the day so that you don't feel overstuffed with food as you're trying to put on weight. If you want to gain 1 pound a week, you will have to consume 500 calories more than you burn per day.

Work out (combination of cardio and weight training).
-Do lunges, squats, and sprints to build muscle in your legs.
-Do plank exercises and sit-ups to work your abs.
-Do push-ups or lift weights to build your arms.

This is important because as you are eating more, your body will naturally store this extra food as fat, so this will keep you toned and lookin' good. (And I'm guessing you want to gain muscular weight, not fat weight.)
