help with shipping things

Question Posted Thursday June 26 2008, 2:58 pm

I put an ad up online for an old textbook I have. Someone wants to buy it. They said they would send me a money order in the mail, and $4 to ship it through media mail at the post office.

To be honest, I've never shipped anything like a textbook to someone. I don't know what kind of packaging to get, if I use stamps and how many, and if I just put it in the mailbox...

I also don't know how money orders work.

I know I sound stupid. So please, tell me how to do this.

If you bring the book to the post office, they'll weigh it and put it in a proper box/envelope for you and put the adequate amount of postage. You'll probably just need a regular box/mailer.

As for money orders, I can't explain them, but Wikipedia can!

If you go to a pack and send place, they will help you with all the shipping and costs. Trust me, it makes it so much easier. And you don't sound stupid.
