Hair Dying Etc

Question Posted Monday June 23 2008, 10:38 am

15/f. I want to get my hair dyed red...It hasnt been approved by my dad yet, but i need knowledge to present to him. I know that red fades really fast...Okay, since I have darker hair, would it be ideal for me to bleach it first and then go red? How long should i wait after bleaching it to go red? If you have any other tips on dying hair, please tell me :) Thankss..
Gina

The only tip I can really offer you is to go to a good salon to get this done.

I've seen a lot of at-home and chain salon red dye-jobs go horribly wrong. It either comes out orange or purple.

Go to a reputable salon and bring several photos so that they know EXACTLY what color you want. And splurge to have them blow-dry it for you. You wont know exactly what color it is until it's dry, and you don't want to get home, dry it, and then realize that it's not the color you wanted. If you have them do it, you can at least tell them that it doesn't look like the color in the pictures, and some places will redo it for you.

I hope that helps.

I have brown hair..and I bleached underneath, so underneath was a brighter red. Then I dyed it red, but it still came out fast. I had to wait a month to dye it red. Also, I didn't do it myself, I went to the salon to get it done.

Hope I helped.
