overdosing depression meds

Question Posted Friday June 20 2008, 1:02 pm

I'm on Prozac, which is medication for my depression. I have a friend who is into taking prescription pills to sort of get "high". Well, he wants to try my prozac...and im most likely not going to let him. But, I was just wondering what would happen to someone who DIDNT NEED depression medication, and they overdosed or something. Would it make them really happy, or give them a "high", or what? thanks!

Thanks so much for being concerned enough to ask this question.

Meds, react differently with each person. Meds are prescribed by physicians who have examined and checked out their patients in order to deem which meds is a necessity for each person.

What would or could happen to a person is taking pills just to take them could cause an allergic reaction "which vary in action" listen to those medication commercials, they normally call out all side effects when they are talking really fast -you know the ones. "smile", but seriously it could lead to coma, addiction or even a more serious effect, death. In some cases, it could cause happiness or give a high as you state, but there is honestly no guarantee at all. Suggestion:

Why not tell your friend to go to an herbal store, and request some type of herb or vitamin to assist him in feeling whatever it is he wants to feel. Trust me they have it there and it's all natural without the risks.

Great job in refusing to provide your meds to your friend. I am proud of you and you are really a good friend!

Don't do it please. It might kill her.
Prescription meds should NEVER be shared
or given to anyone else.

Symptoms of a Prozac overdose may include nausea, vomiting, fever, sleepiness, rapid or uneven heartbeat, confusion, fainting, seizures, or coma.

If taken with some other medications the symptoms would be worse.
