shaving.

Question Posted Thursday June 19 2008, 5:17 pm

15/f
So I shaved "Down there" just because like, I was curious and stuff. So now its like thereare little red bumps, and they're kind of itchy so I looked up this stuff and "Pubic Lice" came up. Can you get pubci lice from shaving? Also, a while back my sex ed teacher said "If you shave and you get red bumps and stuff its easier to get STD's" Is that true?! Help.

Well for one, shaving can actually help GET RID of pubic lice. And it's actually really common to get those red bumps, they're razor burns, so just make sure to use something while you shave: some people use shaving cream, conditioner (like the stuff for your hair, it works on legs too), or just a lot of plain soap.

Razor burn, nothing to worry about.
Hydrocortisone cream is your friend.

The little red bumps are probably just razor burn. It's just like the razor burn you sometimes get on your legs and under your arms after you shave.

I don't know about the STD part of your question, as I'm not sexually active and was never concerned with STD's. However, I don't think that the "little red bumps" have any affect on how easy or not it is for somebody to catch an STD.
