You should probably bring a bottle of water and make sure you don't strain your voice before your first lesson. I took vocal lessons for 3 years and I will tell you this: Do Not get nervous. Your teacher won't laugh at you, they are there to help :). My first lesson I cried...(lol i was 13) But definitely bring water and just have fun! It's a really great thing to do.

Your teacher might sing something and then you'll have to repeat after them. You'll also probably practice vowels (my teacher always says have nice round and open vowels when you sing), and pitches. You could also be learning how to read music (if that's what's included in the beginner's class) Your teacher also might see what you're capable of. Like if you sing barritone, tenor, alto, or soprano it depends on your singing ability. (I don't know your gender so I wouldn't be able to tell you about which section you could possibly sing in, and what they do xP) Just listen to what your teacher says, and don't be afraid or too shy to sing out. You can't improve your singing if someone can't help you because they don't know what your true singing ability is. I think you'll do fine though. You could always bring a bottle of water if you get thirsty or your throat gets dry. Chapstick is also good. [ xeViLxShArPiEx's advice column | Ask xeViLxShArPiEx A Question ]
