barneyrocks answered Tuesday June 10 2008, 4:06 am: in of mice and men, for example, george is a hero when he saved linnie. he saved him after he and his friends pushed him in the lake, and while his friends were laughing, he went and saved linnie because he felt it was his responsibility. linnie really isn't a hero because he doesn't know his own strength. also like society, the upperclass people don't know their own strength over their minorities. they may think the are saving society, but really there're just destroying it by destroying the people who are too week or too old, because the week/old outlived their purpose. because society believe they have to destroy other people to survive. maybe the hero is supposed to be the common man, the man who doesn't have power over society. and everybody can be a hero for their friends or family- just by being there, like one of the themes in of mice and men, we all need somebody. Heros are different for everyone. To me a hero is someone who does the right thing even if it hurts them to do so.
