hey so i recently started going on yaz birth control and i have gained like 10 pounds. i usually stay the same weight so i was shocked to see this change. since i think it is because of the pill, does that mean i cannot loose it? or just have to work harder? do i have to go off the pill if i ever want to get back to how i was?
illuminantshadow answered Monday June 9 2008, 4:27 pm: I'm 14, and I've been taking Yaz for about 4 monthes now. I think if you've been gaining weight, you need to talk to your doctor or whoever prescribed you your medicine about it. When I started on it, that's what they told me to do [ illuminantshadow's advice column | Ask illuminantshadow A Question ]

I gained 11 pounds a few months after i started. My obgyn place told me the pill caused that..but my doctors refused to believe that. They kept telling me it was just my body growing and maturing. HA! Not even. =P But anyways, for me it's been nothing but a struggle to lose the weight. I am not a heavy person to begin with, but those extra pounds make me feel so much bigger =[ I have tried diets, and the special K diet thing, I work out a lot, and I have lost maybe a few pounds..I think it is harder for me to keep weight off and even lose it. That also is part of my genes, like with the women in my family. They are all pretty in shape, but it takes a lot to lose the extra pounds. However, to me, 11 pounds it worth it because I love the pill. It is going to probably be different for you than it has been for me, but if you are not willing to maintain a healthy lifestyle and workout a lot, you might consider going off the pill. I used to be pretty petite..and the pill caused some tiny stretch marks since it all happened so fast. Not trying to worry you though, just giving you the details about my experience, because no one bothered to explain the weight gain issue to me before i started taking the pill =] but good luck losing the weight!!
