summer foreign exchange
is there any way that you could do a foreign exchange in another country for a summer. I really would like to go to Germany or Belgium for a summer and live with a host family and everything.

these aren't exactly what you're looking for, but they're either free or very cheap ideas for summer travel in foreign countries:
the louis august jonas foundation (LAJF.org) has a summer camp called Camp Rising Sun in New York. They also have a sister program in Denmark under the same name. you have to win their scholarship, but I've heard it's a great experience.
become an au pair! an au pair is a foreign nanny that lives with a family and takes care of their children/house/pets for several months at a time. you get paid and sometimes get financed for travel expenses as well. aupair.com has more information.
