you can go to planned parenthood for information. thats where i learned about them, and they will give you pills for free.
basic stuff: regulates periods, can reduce cramps, weight gain, does not protect stds, stuff like that.
i dont really know what you WANT to know about the pill, but if you have any specific or general questions about it, ask mee because i know lots about it! ]
I am on seasonale/seasonique. I switch every so often. I am only on them for period reasons, not for pregnancy reasons. Those pills let you have 1 period every 3 months, however I choose to skip the week you are supposed to have your period, and I haven't had one for many months! There is no medical reason to have a period ever =] If you are on it for pregnancy reasons, I would stick to the week that you have to have it though. I did gain a few pounds starting on them which sucked, but it was way worth it. I love them they are my life savers! Haha. They aren't too expensive, but definitely not cheap..but worth it! You have to go in once a year to get a check up..and thats about it! I don't know the reason you want to be put on them, or how old you are..so it may be different. I'm 16. Anyways, if it is for sexual reasons..DONT EVER MISS ONE! they are tiny and easy to forget to take, or to drop/misplace. I've done it many times and started my period. It's a pain! =] ]
the first thing you need to know is that they are only 97% effective, so condoms should be used with them just in case ;)
on the downside, they do not protect against any sexually transmitted diseases. they should not be used if you have heart or liver poblems, or if you are prone to blood clots. You really shouldn't smoke while on them because it can cause heart problems. Also, for the first 3 monthes you may suffer from nausea or dizziness due to the body's adjustment to the excess hormones.
on the upside, on top of preventing pregnancy they help clear acne, reduce cramping, lighten & shorten periods, can cause weight loss and often make your boobs bigger. You can also plan what days you have your period on by switching birth controls. And if you do decide you want to become pregnant, it takes less than a week to be able to go back to normal.
I just started Lutera, a brand of birth control, a few months ago and I absolutely LOVE the results! I have more energy and my period doesn't slow me down at all anymore. I recommnd it 100% =]
your doctor will tell you which kind is best for you during your consultation.
hope i helped =] ]
