Sorry if I'm wrong, but from my understanding it's basically just really concentrated birth control. At least that's the idea I get from what it says on the box.

But what it does is after you've had unprotected sex or if something went wrong (like a condom breaking or something), you can take it within 3 days and it's pretty effective on preventing pregnancy after the sex has already occured.

It has something to do with your release of eggs, and it says on the box that it could mess up your menstrual cycle for up to three months.

it works in three ways:
- It could kill all of the sperm after ejaculation.
- It could prevent the fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus by breking it from the uteral wall.
- It could either prevent or delay the release of the egg.

basically, it makes sure the egg doesnt stick onto the uterus. it works best the sooner you take it and id only 50% chance it will work. It either removes the egg or misses it. [its a big myth thats its 100% fullproof]

hope i helped =]
