Valium..for anxiety

Question Posted Tuesday May 20 2008, 3:21 am

I have test anxiety and was wondering if I could use Valium (prescription med) to calm my nerves?

Does it make you drowsy, or will it still allow you to stay focused?...meaning, can it calm you down just enough, or is it a bit much?

Also, is valium habit forming? Thanks, I am just trying to see what I can do about calming my nerves, it's really getting in the way of my concentration and ability to perform well on exams.

One of the side effects is drowsiness.
I wouldn't recommend you trying it.
any anti anxiety drugs will cause
drowsiness. Thats part of the calming
affect.

Yes Valium is habit forming. It also
has a half life (time it stays in
system) of up to 200 hrs per dosage.
So someone who is taking it daily
will have it in their system long
after they stop taking it.

I would seriously recommend Bach's rescue remedy before trying valium. My daughter uses it before her finals and she also used it before taking her driving test (she passed). You can buy it at the chemists or health food shops.
