How can I get my skin to heal and break my horrible habit?
Question Posted Friday May 16 2008, 11:18 pm
I have these scabs on my legs that, I'm embarassed to say, I've picked at. I know that this is a disgusting habit that I need to stop. I usually picked while I was waiting for something, like an internet page to load, even while I was driving. They could've started from a bugbite, a scratch, anything. I've tried to do my nails nicely to keep myself from ruining them, but it never worked. I tried simply resisting my urge, but I can only handle it for a day or so.I need to know how I can break my habit, get my skin to heal, and make the scars fade. It's so embarassing to wear shorts! Any help would be much appreciated. And please don't just tell me my habit is gross, I know that already. Just help me to stop it!

I know this sounds harsh but it will work. Ask someone at a drugstore for this stuff.. I cant remember what its called but it makes your fingers sting when you touch it but its only meant for your skin to leave it alone. So every time you go to touch the scab it will sting you so bad you feel like your skin is burning. It helped a friend of mine stop doing the same as you. Another thing was wearing bandaids. Have a support system. Every time I picked at it my family or friends would tell me to stop (most of the time you don't realize what you're doing til the damage is done). Lastly, keep fingernails short. It helps slightly.
