Where can I get the pill? Can I get it at a pharmacy or do I have to have it prescribed? Do you have to be a certain age to buy it? I'm turning 18 next month, so could I just go to my doctor by myself and buy it, or do I have to tell my parents? Because I would really love to keep it from my parents. It'd be kind of awkward to ask them. Also, about how expensive is The Pill?

You can also go to a planned parenthood or women's health clinic. They'll do the same thing (give you a checkup and prescription). You don't have to be 18 to get the pill, you can be at least 16. If you don't want to wait until you're 18 then go to planned parenthood.
If you're concerned about the cost, just tell the doctor and they prescribe you a cheaper birth control. The cheapest I know is $9/month. A more popular one is orthotricylin-lo, which usually costs $20. Others cost more than that, it just depends on the brand.
Also, when you're 18, your parents don't have to know anything because you're an adult. Just be careful when you pay bills or use insurance because your parents will be able to see what was charged. It won't say exactly what you got done but it'll say who the payment went to. [ ellegirl606's advice column | Ask ellegirl606 A Question ]

But if you aren't 18 yet and want to keep it from your parents going to your local health clinic is probably the best option. If you tell then you are a student, sometimes you can get it for free. If not it can be anywhere from 30-50 dollars.
