you can just take hair bobby-pin it and then just push it up with more bobby-pins. ---thats pretty much the simpilist way to explain this. Hope i helped. also, tease your hair by taking a comb and moving it up and down at the roots of your hair tease it back then take bobby-pins and pin it and push it up if you want it to look nicer.

I think you're talking about teasing. For that you take the hair from the area you need and a comb and lightly... knot it from the back? Its kind of hard to explain.
