I'm 13 and i have a layout so i might be able to help a little on this subject. When i wanted a backhandspring, i was told to work on a back bend kick over as well. A very easy drill is to lay on your bed on your back. Then reach your arms above your head so your hands are on the ground. (It is alot like a backbend with your legs flat.) Then push your legs up so you are in a back bend. Your feet should be on the bed and your hands on the floor. Then push your self off and kick over! MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR ARMS LOCKED!!! But even if you do crash and burn, it doesn't hurt!!! :-)

hope this helped.
