The basics will help you alot, you know like tight motions, remembering motions and words and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS smile and look like your having fun. even if your not. liberty back basing isnt hard at all. just hold on to the flyers ankle and thigh and pull up to relieve some of the weight on the bases. point your toes in your jumps and yell loud and clear. just no matter what have fun with it.
Holly22co answered Saturday April 5 2008, 11:11 am: haa im varsity captain & im a junior, so hopefully i can help :) im also a back/base.. tumbling really isnt a big deal.. most high school varsity squads only have about 5 of them.. just be sure to practice. it should be passable, but doesnt have to be perfect. for basing, just remember to push up and keep pressing in when the flyer hitches the stunt. and be sure to move your face back when she cradles so you wont get hit :) as you probably know.. that sucks haha. for your dance/routine, make sure your movements are clean & tight. try to practice in front of a big mirror if you can. or tape popsicle sticks to your wrists to keep them straight. be LOUD!!! coaches like girls who can be heard in the stands! for jumps.. be sure to stretch! so your jumps will be bigger. oh and use lots of facial expressions, even if they feel dumb. this is a BIG part of competition.. and dont forget to smile :) it portrays good school spirit and a positive attitude.spiriting helps earn you bonus points too.. good luck! -ali 16f<33 [ Holly22co's advice column | Ask Holly22co A Question ]
