The 25th Amendment was an effort to resolve some of the continuing issues revolving about the office of the President, that is what happens upon the death, removal or resignation of the President or for some reason the President becomes disable that he can not fullfill his responsibilities. The practice had been well established that the Vice President became President upon the death of the President as happened eight times in History.
Seven Vice Presidents had died in office and one had resigned so there for some twenty per cent of US History there had been no Vice President to step up.
Congress finally proposed this Amendment to the States in the aftermath of President Kennedy's assassination with the Vice Presidency vacant and a President who had previously had a heart attack.
This Amendment was passed by Congress July 6,1965 and it was ratified February 10, 1967.
Lyndon Johnson helped the effort to get this Amendment ratified making it Sen. Birch Bayh's bill amoung his legislative priorities.

Hope I was helpful,

Val

It's really straight-forward. If you can't understand it from that article send me a message to my private box. I'll break it down. It's about when a president can be removed from office, who replaces him when he dies or both the president and VP were to die at once. More importantly it's about how the VP can take temporary power.

Anyways, you need to read this, sum it up in your own words and do your best. Just a suggestion for the future: tell the teacher that you don't get the assignment or what things mean before getting into a last minute bind. If you had any doubt you could have resolved it there and earned a higher mark.

I'm not saying this to be mean but any time you don't understand something seek help from the teacher, classmates etc. while you can. I can't do your homework for you but I can help you get to the point that you can finish it with the right tools. See what you can do first.
