Actually any degree is ok but not necessarily a must. However, a degree in criminal justice will help. Writing and speaking good in English is a must.

to be in the force you will most likely need

Physical education
Maths
English
and a basic sience depending on what sort of police force you wanna join

i got told by the careers teacher to take P.E, Maths and English then join the police cadets at 16/17

im guessing you live in the USA due to the fact you called them "cops" rather than "police" so i don't really know if the subjects still apply

but i do know you need the above in the UK police force
i cant see them being too different

hope i helped a wee bit

xxx
