The 'popping of the cherry' phrase relates to when a girl/woman has sex for the first time. There is a thin layer of skin called the hyman, this tears when the penis penetrates the body. Sometimes this can hurt but some people don't feel anything. It is also possible to bleed a little afterwards. These are all normal reactions. If it's your first time, just tell the guy to be gentle, they usually are.

It means inside of you there is a very thin piece of skin-type material and when you have sex for the first time people call it popping the cherry b/c you do bleed if it's not already broken. However, everyday activities can also break your hymen, or "pop your cherry." It could break from bike riding or any really vigorous activity or i have heard it could break from using a tampon but, I am not entirely sure thats true. Hope I helped.
