My hair is about shoulder length, very fine, and pretty curly. Towards the bottom layer of my hair, closer to the neck, my hair forms perfect, shiny ringlets. But the top layer is really inconsistent, with waves and curls randomly in the same strand of hair. I don't like the way that it looks drying naturally (I get triangle hair), and when I use a diffuser, my hair gets a really weird inch or so on the part that's perfectly straight, but the rest looks okay. How can I get a consistent curl all over my head, and maybe more volume towards the scalp without damaging my hair?!

what i do for my top layers (for some reason they curl less than the bottom layers) is i take a 1 inch barrel curling iron (you could try less or more depending on how loose or tight your curls are) and then gently curling the curls that aren't defined enough. after doing this, rake your fingers through the curls as they are cooling so they look natural and not too "styled".
you can get a curling iron at a store like walmart for about $15 (mine's conair and it works great).
hope that helps a little! :] [ beach_chick1234's advice column | Ask beach_chick1234 A Question ]

i have really nice wavy hair too and from experience, when your hair gets longer, it seems more consistant throught it. so try growing it out longer. dont straighten it too much or blow dry it, it will cause split ends and make it harder for it to grow. use products in your hair like biosilk, which makes it soft and shiny and is actually good for it. um, i use a variety of shampoo for long hair, that consists of:
.long relationship by herbal essance
.fruit garniece for long hair (or something like that)
.this shampoo for horses (but it works so good because its suppose to be for horse hair) called Mane 'n Tail
kayyy, but if you dont want to grow your hair long, you could alway like use gel or mouse and sculpt your hair to the way you want it. theres this stuff from l'oreal called Lasting curls & its like not gel or anything like that, but you just put it in your hair and like sculpt it kind of. & it enhances/holds the curls/waves too. it works pretty good :)
may like use some rollers or something. they dont do any damage. you could use a curling iron, but thats going to damage your hair somewhat over time. just use a heat protection spray for your hair.
soo. you could like try looking up on websites for some info. i found some that seem good.
