Like the person below me said, people have their diffrent opinions. Some believe, some are skeptics, some come out skeptics then magically become believers. They say if you believe, then you'll see. But if you don't believe you may never see. So its really up to you, whether you believe it or not.
In my opinion, I do believe there are ghosts out there, even though I haven't had an encounter YET I still believe because to me, I believe if a person passes on with an tragic death (shot)or if a person hasn't lived the life they wanted (depression) those feelings go on in the afterlife. And those people can't crossover from heaven or hell and they're just stuck.
It's al up to you and your perception.

but i believe in them, like i swear i think my house is haunted, bc weird stuff happen, and my mom and i could have sworn we saw a ghost.
also,
we had to put our two german shepards to sleep a couple of years ago, while i was at school.
so i never got to say bye to them, around 4 in the morning the next day i felt something jump on my bed and i woke up and saw my dogs. it was crazy, but so cool at the same time, bc i felt like i was thier unfinished business.

Yes they are...don't have a lot of time to answer, but check out the New Age section at your book store, Borders or Barnes and Nobles. I know people who have seen them, especially after someone close to them passes away. Peace
